East Coast Trail

In June 2018 we hiked the 336 km long

East Coast Trail on Newfoundland's Avalon Peninsula. Composed of 25 wilderness pathways that connect 30 maritime communities, the ECT is one of Canada’s best long distance trails.

Canada's oldest recreational pathway is where our love of hiking began. From 2014 to 2022, in a series of day hikes, organized End-to-End events, and one epic thru-hike, we trekked 900 km along the Niagara Escarpment from Queenston Heights to Tobermory, on Ontario's Bruce Trail.

Camino Frances

In 2016 we made our first pilgrimage on the popular 500 mile (800 km) long Camino Frances.  Beginning in September, we followed the yellow arrows of The Way from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where the apostle St. James is reportedly entombed.

In spring 2022 we walked the Camino Madrid, a 322 km long pilgrimage route beginning in Madrid, Spain and ending in Sahagun.  From there, pilgrims can continue on to Santiago de Compostela on the Camino Frances, or follow the San Salvador and Camino Primitivo, like we did.

Why is this one of our favourite pilgrimage routes? Short, rugged, and wild, the 119 km long Camino San Salvador is a nature lover's paradise. This travel blog shares the story of our 5 day walk from Leon to Oviedo, Spain in the spring of 2022.​​

Explore our Come Walk With Us travel and hiking blog on our 120 km long pilgrimage along the Camino Primitvo.  In Spring 2022 we spent 10 days walking from Oviedo to Melide, Spain, where we joined the Camino Frances for the final push into Santiago de Compostella.

We walked the Via de la Plata from Seville to Granja de Moreruela, where we turned west onto the Camino Sanabres.  Together, these two routes were the longest and most challenging Caminos we've walked so far.  Why?  Read the blog to find out.

Camino Sanabres

The 366 km long Camino Sanabres, which traverses the hilly and picturesque landscapes of Castille y Leon and Galicia was strikingly beautiful.  It offered one of the least crowded routes into Santiago de Compostela.  To read about the full experience check out our blog.

After a life-changing spiritual journey on the Camino, what's next? The 90 km Camino Fisterra route from Santiago de Compostela to Muxia and then Finisterre Spain provides time for reflection, solitude, and time to connect with nature.

This travel blog describes our journey along the 500 mile (800 km) pilgrimage route across France known as the Via Podiensis (Chemin St. Jacques, GR65).  In spring 2019 we walked our second Camino, from Le Puy-en-Velay, France to Roncesvalles, Spain.

Camino Portuguese (Coastal)

In 2023 we walked over 270 km along the coast of Portugal, beginning in Porto and ending in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.  Our camino began on the Camino Portuguese Litoral, continued on the Camino Portuguese Coastal, and finished on the Espiritual Variant.

Camino Portuguese (Central)

We fell in love with Portugual in 2019, when we walked the 400 mile (640 km) long pilgrimage route along the Caminho Portuguese from Lisbon, Portugal, through Porto, to Santiago de Compostella, Spain.

In 2023 we walked over 400 km along the coast of Portugal on the Rota Vicenta, beginning in Lagos and ending in Santiago do Cacem.  Endless sandy beaches, colour clifftop rambles, and exotic looking birds were a few of the highlights.

Pathways of the United Kingdom

Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk stretches 309 km (192 miles) from St. Bees to Robin Hood's Bay, England. In 2024 we spent 13 days walking from the Irish Sea to the North Sea, crossing the Lake District, Yorshire Dales, and North York Moors National Parks along the way.

Hadrian's Wall Path stretches 135 km (84 miles) from Wallsend to Bowness-on-Solway, England. In 2024 we spent 5 days walking the wall that once marked the northern edge of Roman Empire, and where it is still possible to explore Roman forts and structures.

Our blog for the West Highland Way, Scotland's most famous hiking trail, is coming soon!  What was it like to walk 165 km (96 miles) from Milngavie to Fort William during eight days of rain?  Stay tuned to find out.

How was the Great Glen Way different from the West Highland Way? In 2024 we continued north from Fort William to Inverness, Scotland, following the Caledonia Canal and the forested shores of Loch Lochy, Loch Oich, and the famous Loch Ness.

Do you get bored during a week long transatlantic crossing?  On a cold spring day we boarded Queen Mary 2, the world's only remaining ocean liner, to find out.  We sailed from New York, NY to Southampton, UK.

A few months after our first transatlantic crossing on Queen Mary 2 we found ourselves making the return journey from Southampton , UK to New York, NY. How was it different?  Our blog will explain.

This slow travel blog will describe our nine day cruise to Alaska aboard Cunard's Queen Elizabeth.  With stops in Ketchikan, Skagway, Juneau, and Sitka, epic scenery, and close-up views of wildlife, it was an adventure we'll never forget.
